Inform the following service providers about your moving program at least 2 months in advance :

ONE MONTH BEFORE THE MOVE

• Arrange for pre-move survey
• Back up your personal computer
• Collect school records
• Decide on items that will go by sea or air
• Disposal of redundant items
• International driver's license
• Personal insurance valuation list
• Purchase additional items that you wish to send in the shipment
• Sell car
• Sell plants/ used furniture/ appliances (if you don't intend to take them)
• Travelers cheques
• Visit your doctor/dentist and obtain medical/dental records
• Verify all documentation for the country of destination - resident permits, visa, tickets, passports etc.

DURING THE PRE-MOVE SURVEY

• Discuss customs formalities with the Writer Relocation consultant
• Highlight your plans for all pets
• If you are planning to move electrical appliances, inquire about the voltage at destination
• Indicate high value items requiring special handling
• Mention item not currently present at the home such as newly purchase items or items in storage
• Show the moving consultant the items going by sea, air or storage
• Storage requirements at origin or destination
• Transit Insurance

TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE

• Clean the refrigerator with a strong detergent so as to reduce the chances of mould and mildew beign formed during shipping
• Cancel magazine or newspaper subscriptions
• Dry Cleaning
• Inform the telephone company and electricity / gas/ water authorities
• Reduce/dispose of all frozen/perishable foods

ONE WEEK BEFORE THE MOVE

• Bank record
• Birth/Marriage certificates
• Flight arrangements
• Hotel arrangements
• Identity cards
• Insurance Policy
• International Policy

• International driving license
• Medical and dental records
• Medicines
